Sermon Preview: “Stand Strong"
Scripture: Ephesians 6:10–18
This Sunday, we’ll continue in Paul’s final words to the church in Ephesians: "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Paul reminds us that following Jesus means we are living on a spiritual battlefield—but our enemy is not other people. Our battle is not against unbelievers, not against one another, and not against “flesh and blood.” Our real enemy is the devil, and God has given His people everything we need to stand firm.
We’ll look at the "armor of God" and what it means to put on:
- the belt of truth
- the body armor of God’s righteousness
- the shoes of peace from the good news
- the shield of faith
- the helmet of salvation
- the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God
We’ll also see that putting on the armor is not about trying harder in our own strength. It begins with yielding to Jesus, being led by the Holy Spirit, and living a life of prayer.
Big Idea
We stand strong against the enemy by yielding to God, trusting in Christ, and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prepare
Before Sunday, read Ephesians 6:10–18 and answer these questions:
1. Who does Paul say our real enemy is?
2. Why is it important to remember that people are not our enemy?
3. Which piece of the armor of God do you most need to remember this week?
4. What does it look like to “stand strong” by trusting Jesus?
Join us Sunday as we learn how God equips His people to live in victory and stand firm together.
