The Danger Of Distraction

Day 3: The Danger of Distraction

Reading: Acts 1:9-11; Psalm 46:10

Devotional:

"Why are you standing here staring into heaven?" the angels asked. The disciples could have remained fixated on Jesus' departure, paralyzed by uncertainty. Instead, they received permission to move forward—not away from Jesus, but deeper into His mission. We live in an age of instant everything: instant food, instant entertainment, instant answers. This conditions us to be uncomfortable with stillness and waiting. We fill every quiet moment with noise, every pause with activity. But God speaks in the stillness. "Be still and know that I am God." When did you last sit in complete silence before the Lord for more than sixty seconds? This week, practice sacred stillness. Turn off your phone, close the laptop, silence the television. Sit before God for five minutes—then ten—then longer. Let the discomfort teach you. In that space, you'll discover He's been speaking all along; you just couldn't hear Him over the noise.
