Day 1: The Heart of Discipleship
Reading: Luke 9:23-24
Jesus' invitation to discipleship isn't a casual suggestion—it's a call to radical surrender. "Give up your own way" doesn't mean abandoning personality or gifts, but releasing control to the One who knows us best. The cross we carry daily represents dying to self-directed living and embracing Christ-directed purpose. This isn't loss; it's exchange—trading temporary control for eternal significance. Consider what "your own way" looks like in your life. What plans, identities, or securities are you clinging to? True life begins when we stop trying to save ourselves and trust Jesus completely. He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.
