Obedience Before Understanding

Day 2: Obedience Before Understanding

Reading: Luke 24:49-53; Proverbs 3:5-6

Devotional:

Jesus gave His disciples a simple command: wait. They didn't understand what the Holy Spirit's coming would look like. They had no roadmap, no timeline beyond "wait in Jerusalem." Yet they obeyed. How often do we demand complete understanding before we'll obey God? We want the full picture, the guaranteed outcome, the detailed plan. But faith means trusting God's character when we can't see His hand. The disciples used their best reasoning to choose Matthias, then surrendered the final decision to God through prayer. They balanced wisdom with dependence. Today, you may be standing at a crossroads, uncertain which path to take. God invites you to bring your best thinking to Him, then surrender control. Obey what He's already shown you—even if it's just "wait and worship"—and trust that He will reveal the next step at exactly the right time.
