Day 5: Obedience Over Comfort

Reading: Acts 4:18-20; John 16:33

"Do you think God wants us to obey you rather than Him?" Peter's response to the religious authorities reveals a fundamental truth: following Jesus sometimes means civil disobedience when human laws contradict God's commands. The apostles couldn't stop telling what they'd seen and heard—the resurrection was too real, too transformative. Jesus warned His followers: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." We're called to be respectful of authorities, yet ultimately our allegiance belongs to Christ alone. The question each believer must answer: Am I committed to following Jesus no matter what? When the cost of obedience rises, will you pray for boldness or retreat to comfort?

What area of obedience to God feels costly right now? Ask Him for boldness to obey regardless of consequences.
