Get Behind Me Satan
Day 3: Get Behind Me, Satan
Reading: Matthew 16:21-26
Devotional: Peter loved Jesus, yet his words came from Satan. How? Because Peter was thinking from a human perspective, not God's. He wanted to protect Jesus from suffering, not understanding that the cross was God's perfect plan. We do the same when we resist God's leading because it doesn't make sense to us or seems too costly. When temptation whispers, "You can follow Jesus later, after you accomplish this first," we must respond like Jesus: "Get behind me, Satan!" Following Jesus is urgent—not someday, but today. Every delay is a deception. God's plans are always better than ours, even when they require sacrifice we don't understand. Today, practice recognizing thoughts that pull you away from immediate obedience to Christ and boldly reject them.
