Day 4: Obedience Over Obligation

Reading: Romans 12:1-2; James 1:22-25

The New Testament church wasn't following religious rules about giving—they were responding to the Holy Spirit's leading. There's no percentage mandate, no prescribed formula. Instead, we're called to present ourselves as living sacrifices, allowing God to transform how we think about everything, including our resources. This is harder than following rules because it requires constant listening, ongoing surrender, and moment-by-moment obedience. You can't put obedience on autopilot. It demands relationship with God, sensitivity to His voice, and willingness to trust Him with outcomes.

Today, practice listening prayer. Before making any decision—even small ones—pause and ask, "Lord, what do You want?" Learn to recognize His leading, then obey immediately, even when it doesn't make logical sense.
