**Sermon Preview: “God’s House”**
**Scripture: Ephesians 2:9–22**
This Sunday, we’ll continue in Ephesians 2 and look at what God’s grace produces in the life of a believer. Grace is not just about being forgiven so we can “feel better” about sin—it is God’s power at work making us new in Christ.
Paul reminds the Ephesian believers that they were once far from God, without hope, and separated from His promises. But through Jesus, those who were far away have been brought near. Christ has broken down the wall of hostility and created one new people—Jews and Gentiles together—as the family of God.
We’ll talk about how grace helps us avoid becoming a “holy huddle”—an inward-focused Christian bubble—and instead sends us out to live on mission. We’ll also explore what it means that the church is not a building, but God’s house made of living stones: His people, joined together with Jesus as the cornerstone.
**Main Ideas We’ll Explore:**
- Salvation is not a reward for our good works; it is a gift of grace.
- God’s grace makes us new and forms us into His masterpiece.
- Jesus destroys the “us versus them” mentality and creates one united people.
- The church is not a building—it is the people of God.
- God’s Spirit lives in His people, and through the church, the world can encounter Him.
**Key Verse:**
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
— Ephesians 2:10
**Questions to Prepare Your Heart:**
- How is God’s grace actively at work in my life?
- Am I allowing God to change and renovate areas of my heart?
- Do I see the church as a place to be served, or as a people sent on mission?
- Are there any “us versus them” attitudes God wants to break down in me?
- How can my life help others encounter Jesus?
**For Families:**
Talk together about what it means to be part of God’s house. Remind your kids that the church is not just a building we go to—it’s the people who belong to Jesus. Ask: “How can our family help others know that Jesus loves them?”
Join us Sunday as we ask: **What will we do with God’s invitation to become part of His masterpiece?**
