Day 2: Every Part Belongs

Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:14-20 — Paul describes the body using the imagery of different physical members, emphasizing that God has placed each part exactly where He intends.

14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

Devotional:
God does not make mistakes in His placement of people within the body of Christ. The foot is not inferior to the hand. The ear is not lesser than the eye. Each part is exactly where the Designer intended it to be. Yet so many believers quietly convince themselves they are unnecessary — that if they stopped showing up, no one would notice. This is a lie that leads to isolation and spiritual drift. God's word declares plainly that He has placed each part just where He wants it. That includes you. Your presence in the body of Christ is not accidental. It is intentional, purposeful, and irreplaceable.

Have you ever felt invisible or unnecessary within your church community? How does God's intentional design of the body challenge that feeling?

Reach out to one person in your church this week who may be feeling disconnected. Your acknowledgment of their belonging could be the very thing God uses to draw them back.

I think we’ve seen this in our church recently. That, “I’m not that important” mindset. But the reality is, we all have a part to play. We need eachother. I pray God strengthens us all to see our need for one another.
