Day 5: Speaking Truth, Growing Up

Reading: Ephesians 4:14-16
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Devotional:
Spiritual maturity is not measured by how long you have attended church. It is measured by how closely your life resembles Christ. Paul warns that immature believers are easily tossed around by false teaching and clever deception. The antidote is not simply more information. It is a life rooted deeply in Christ, connected to the body, and committed to speaking truth in love. Growth happens when every part of the body does its work. That includes you. When you operate in your calling, exercising the gifts God has given you, the whole body benefits. You are not a spectator in God's masterpiece. You are a living stone placed there on purpose.
In what areas of your faith do you still feel spiritually immature, and what steps could you take to grow?
Commit to one spiritual discipline this month, whether Scripture reading, prayer, service, or community, that will help you grow in the specific area where you feel least mature.

“ Spiritual maturity is not measured by how long you have attended church. It is measured by how closely your life resembles Christ.” It was eye opening to read this today. I’ve always associated spiritual maturity with age and length of time being saved. I desire to be more spiritually mature and I feel as if God is really leading our church this direction, calling us all closer to Him.
