Day 3: God's Masterpiece on Display

Reading: Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Reading: Psalm 139:13-16
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Devotional:
Paul's language in Ephesians 2:10 is breathtaking. He describes believers as God's masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared long before we ever arrived. Psalm 139 reminds us that this intentionality goes all the way back to our formation. God has never been improvising with your life. He has been authoring it. The good works he calls you to are not burdens added on top of salvation. They are the very reason he made you new. You are not saved and then left to figure out what to do with your life. You are saved into a purpose that God himself designed.
Do you genuinely believe that God has specific good works prepared for you, or does that feel abstract? What might it mean for your daily life if you took that truth seriously?
Set aside fifteen minutes today to write down the gifts, experiences, and relationships God has placed in your life. Ask him to show you how those things connect to the purpose he has prepared for you.
