Day 1: God's Unstoppable Mission

Reading: Romans 8:31-39

More Than Conquerors

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[a]

 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Devotional:

 "If God is for us, who can be against us?" This powerful question doesn't promise an easy life—it promises ultimate victory. Paul reminds us that we face death all day long, yet nothing can separate us from God's love. These truths coexist in tension. God's mission will succeed, not because we'll avoid hardship, but because no force in heaven or earth can thwart His purposes. When you face opposition today, remember you're aligned with the unstoppable God. Opposition doesn't mean you're off course; it often confirms you're exactly where God wants you. The question isn't whether difficulties will come, but whose side you're on when they do.

What opposition are you currently facing? How might God be using it to accomplish His greater purposes?

My current opposition or trial is disciplining my daughter and dealing with all the emotion that goes along with that. I’ve had to really rely on God to help me get through the anger and frustration of the 4-year-old disobedience and disrespect. I think that God is pruning me into being a more patient and kind woman who relies on Him. When I pray or do something as simple as saying “get behind me Satan” when I start to get sassy back and behave like someone who doesn’t follow Christ, I’ve been checking myself and choosing kind discipline instead of the hollering and getting annoyed so easily. I think (hope) maybe God is helping me mold a respectable and kind woman in Pauline who will put others first and be what Christ is calling all of us to be. I’m sure any loving parent would hope or feel the same, but this is what is constantly on my mind right now. I just don’t want to mess my kid up. Thank you, God, for the Holy Spirit’s help and for guiding me when I fail in my own strength. Parenting is hard.
