Day 1: The Prayer That Includes You

5-Day Devotional: Living in Unity Through God's Love

Day 1: The Prayer That Includes You

Reading: John 17:20-23

Devotional: When Jesus prayed in the upper room, He wasn't just praying for the disciples standing before Him—He was praying for you. "I'm praying not only for these disciples, but also for all who will ever believe in Me through their message." Thousands of years later, His prayer reaches across time to embrace your life today. You are not an afterthought in God's plan; you are central to Christ's mission. Jesus prayed for your protection, your sanctification, and your unity with other believers. Today, pause and let this truth settle deep: the Son of God spoke your name before the Father before you were even born. You are known, loved, and prayed for by Jesus Himself.

Reflection Question: How does knowing Jesus prayed specifically for you change the way you approach your relationship with God today?

I have always loved that this prayer was one Jesus specifically prayed over us.

I have been reading through John as a Bible study with a few men from church. It’s incredible when you think that Jesus thought about each and every one of us before we even existed. I pray we are unified just as he prayed for us so many years ago.

“It makes me feel that he knew I would be born a long, long time ago.”
