Day 2: You Don't Belong to This World
5-Day Devotional: Living in Unity Through God's Love
Day 2: You Don't Belong to This World
Reading: John 17:14-16; 1 John 2:15-17
Devotional: "They do not belong to this world any more than I do." These words from Jesus define the Christian experience. If you've accepted Christ, you've been fundamentally changed—you're a citizen of heaven living temporarily on earth. This explains why you sometimes feel out of place, why certain things that excite the world leave you empty, why you long for something more. The world will oppose you, not because you're doing something wrong, but because you reflect a different kingdom. Yet Jesus doesn't pray for your removal from the world, but for your protection within it. You're called to live differently—not by forcing separation, but by allowing the Holy Spirit to transform you from within. Your difference isn't manufactured; it's supernatural.
Reflection Question: In what areas of your life do you most feel the tension between belonging to God's kingdom and living in this world?
