Innocence

This powerful exploration of Jesus's final hours before the crucifixion takes us deep into the Garden of Gethsemane, where we witness something profound: Jesus wasn't overpowered by Roman soldiers or temple guards—He chose to surrender. When He revealed His identity by simply saying 'I am,' these armed men fell to the ground, reminding us that no earthly power could take His life unless He willingly gave it. This distinction matters enormously for our faith journey. Jesus wasn't submitting to human authority; He was surrendering to God's perfect plan. How often do we confuse the two in our own lives? We face circumstances that feel overwhelming, situations where God's plan doesn't align with our preferences, and we must choose: will we resist, or will we trust that His way is better? The garden scene also reveals Jesus's heart for protection—even in His darkest hour, He ensured His disciples went free, fulfilling His promise that He wouldn't lose a single one given to Him. This same protective love extends to us today. Nothing in our lives catches Jesus by surprise, and there's nothing we can do to lose His unconditional love. As we reflect on Pilate's haunting question, 'What is truth?', we're reminded that in a world of competing narratives and confusing voices, Jesus stands as the embodiment of truth itself. His innocent blood was shed so our guilt could be removed, His spotless life exchanged for our broken ones.
